4 WAYS TO MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR TALENT
What is your passion? What things do you do really well? Are you capitalizing on your talents?
Everyone has talent. It is a fact that some people have more talents than others, but we all have been gifted with some form of talent. Some people have a hard time discovering what their talent is, but the fact still remains the same that there is talent within all of us that needs to be released into our world.
What’s your talent?
It is fascinating how each person on this Earth is gifted with a talent that no one else in the world has been gifted with. So again I ask you, do you know your talent or talents? I love people. I love talking with them and getting to know them. God made each us “fearfully and wonderfully.” So anything time God allows me to connect with part of His human creation, I delight in these opportunities.
Discover Your Talents
I have never been one to follow the crowd. Usually our uniqueness is watered down and becomes less noticeable when we follow the crowd. Our uniqueness is what makes us special.
I am reminded of the story in the Bible with the master that gave his three servants talents. One servant received five talents and grew his five into ten. He gave another servant two and that servant developed his talents into four. The last servant received one talent and this servant hid that talent in the ground.
When you discover the talent you’re created to manifest to our world, you will be constantly developing your talent. But if you don’t attempt to discover our talents or if you feel you don’t have any talents, then you do what the third servant did. You end up hiding and burying your talent or talents.
Let me add one more thing to this thought. The last servant “hid” or “buried” his talent. Have you ever thought why the servant “hid” his talent? The passage said that servant with the one talent was “afraid.”
Fear’s role in your life is to choke out and hide the beauty and uniqueness that was created within us. The best way for you to discover your talent or talents is instead of burying your talents rather bury your fears. This fear limits us because it produces doubt. Just a little doubt can distort our ability to discover and utilize our talents. So what are you waiting on? What fears do you need to bury today?
In addition to burying your fears, here are 5 questions to ask yourself to discover your talent. Answer these questions with some thoughtfulness and record your answers. After you have answered these questions, you will find yourself closer to discovering and making the most of your dreams.
1. What do you spend most of your time doing?
2. What makes me feel strong?
3. What do you spend most of your money on?
4. What do others believe your strengths and weaknesses are?
5. What did you love as a child?

There is no reason for you to feel stuck. No one likes this feeling. And if you do like this feeling, then you may just be afraid to discover and make the most of your talent. You will enjoy success beyond your wildest imaginations once you have discovered your talent.
Trust me, you will know when you have found your talent. It will be evident by your intense passion and extreme dedication to your talent. Here are 4 ways to make to most of your talents.
1. Keep a journal.
It can quite hard to develop a steady flow of thoughts for anything. In today’s world, we are constantly being asked to multi-task and be more efficient. Journaling is a great way to produce a flow of thought about a specific topic. You will discover many ways to make the most of your talents if you are able to freely write about it and explore your own mind. American author Natalie Goldberg stated, “Whether you’re keeping a journal or writing as a meditation, it’s the same thing. What’s important is you’re having a relationship with your mind.”
2. Search for talent in others.
Sometimes it is hard to discover or make the most of your talents when you feel “stuck.” It can be extremely helpful to see others that are making the most of their talents because it will give you ideas about how to bring the best out of yourself.
3. Read and study information pertaining to your talent.
What our minds consume says a lot about what we value. You have to be willing to read and study information pertaining to your talent if you plan on making the most of your talent. Knowledge is the key to enhancing your talents and making the most of them. Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela declared, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” One of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America Benjamin Franklin demanded, “An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.”
4. Be open to change.
Nothing in life stays the same, which means things are constantly changing. You must embrace change if you are going to make the most of your talents. Getting caught in complacency will stagnate your dreams and aspirations, but more importantly it will cause you choke out talents. Playwright George Bernard Shaw said, “Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything.” A healthy appreciation for change is needed if you are going to make the most of your talents.
