ARE YOU LIVING ON A DEAD END STREET?

Everyone wants to be successful. Each of our definitions for success is slightly different but there are many components of success that are the same.
Let’s be honest, we can waste a lot of time trying to figure it out. Whatever it may be for you. While attempting to discover it, many times we lose precious momentum that could help with our success. And if that isn’t enough, most of the time whatever it is usually is right in front of our faces.
Let’s break down our live into three categories: GOT IT, UNSURE, or HELP. We all fall somewhere in these categories.
1. HELP
No one can do it alone. This thought keeps you from wasting any time on a dead end street. Acknowledge your need for help, and seek good advice. But don’t look for just anyone to advise you. Look for someone who is successful.
When you find that person, observe their everyday walk of life. Then ask questions such as:
-What did they do to become successful?
-What are their goals?
-Who are their mentor(s)?
-How have they handled failure?
-Have they experienced any failure?
You may not obtain your answers overnight but don’t stop asking the right questions before choosing the right person to help you. Finding the right help and being successful has a lot to do with preparation. Confucius a Chinese teacher, editor, politician, and philosopher said, “Success depends upon previous preparation, and without such preparation there I sure t be failure.”
Jesus spoke one of the greatest quotes surrounding the word help. In Matthew 7:7 Jesus said, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”
2. UNSURE
It’s okay if you’re really not sure about what you’re doing. However if you are unsure of where you are going in life, take some time and discover what you’re really passionate about.
Passion can come from different places. I may have been something from your childhood. Whatever your passion may be, discover it and begin to pursue this passion. You will find following your passion will begin a new adventure for your life that will bring tremendous happiness and satisfaction getting you off your dead end street.
3. GOT IT
Congratulations to those people that are established and well on their way to enjoying passion and purpose. It is an awesome thing when you are able to live out your passion and purpose, but be careful thinking that you don’t need help.
People within this category may struggle more than most because it’s easy to slip into the mind-frame of thinking “I know what I am doing!” This thinking causes a person to plant seeds of arrogance, pride, stubbornness, and conceitedness. All these feelings hinder our growth, which causes us to take up residence on a dead end street. James C. Collins a business consultant and author stated, “Good is the enemy of great.” Just remember there is always room to grow and develop. Don’t settle for good.
When you have discovered your passion and purpose, you will not only seek help but you will seek to help others.
Don’t find yourself living on a dead in street. Your life can flow with richness and enjoyment if you would just take the time to be truthful with yourself. Decide what category you are in and do a quick mental assessment of your thought process. Once you have done this you will give your vision wings to freely fly.
