ONE WAY TO EXCEL WITH EVERYTHING YOU DO IN LIFE
Do you currently have a plan to excel in life? When you do make plans, what happens when things don’t work out?
There have been many instances when I thought an idea, event, or plan was going to be a huge success, but it never amounted to the success I expected. When we experience these challenges, I have discovered that we do one of three things.
1. Quit.
2. Start Over.
3. Push Through.
Depending on the situation, there are times when each of these are great options. Regardless of what decision you make, you will need to do one thing that will help you excel. One way to excel with everything you do in your life is by having a willingness to learn.
I don’t believe anything is a failure, unless you fail to learn from the experience. Albert Einstein said, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” So maybe it’s time to do something different.
Are you looking to be successful? What does success look like? How many times have tried and failed?
Let me tell you this, we will not hit a “home-run” with everything in our lives. However, we should be able to excel with everything. Excelling has to do with coming through, becoming better, transcending, surpassing, etc. A strong willingness to learn will help you excel with everything you do in your life. Here is what a strong willingness to learn will do for your life.
1. Improves your thinking. When we learn, we will improve our perspective. Improving your perspective will improve the way you see yourself and others. It is this improved thinking that will lead you to the success even when things go wrong. Instead of thinking on your negatives and weaknesses, your improved thinking will allow you to focus on your positives and strengths to help you excel.
2. Changes your behavior. One the greatest things we can do when we headed down the wrong path is change directions. It sounds easy enough, but how do you know if you are headed down the wrong path. Your discovery of knowing you are headed down the wrong path can only be achieved with a strong willingness to learn. You have to ask yourself questions and be ready for the answers.
3. Propels your life forward. We have focused on the foundation of excelling, which begins with our thinking and behavior. Once we develop a strong willingness to learn and experience our first two points, it should naturally lead to propelling your life.
Many people are feeling “stuck” in life. I challenge you to develop a strong willingness to learn so you can excel and bring success to your life. What strategies or practices have you made part of your life to excel? How would developing a stronger willingness to learn change your life? Let me know your thoughts.
