Possessing Intangible Wealth
In a previous blog, I discussed the importance of FOCUS (Click on link). It’s easy to lose focus when it comes to priorities, if we consumed with things that don’t matter much. Everyone wants to be happy, but how far are you willing to go to be happy? What makes you happy?
One of the primary reasons for unhappiness in our world is greed. There are some who believe happiness lies with possessing tangible wealth.
Tangible wealth consists of those things, which we can hold, feel, and touch such as money, cars, homes, etc. By no means are these things bad, but they can become a distraction when we are unable to set proper priorities.
“Things that matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
We have seen corruption in our schools, the workplace, churches, and in our personal homes. This corruption stems from selfish desires. We ought to seek to possess intangible wealth instead of tangible wealth.
What defines intangible wealth?
List of Intangible Wealth
1. Love
2. Joy
3. Peace
4. Long-suffering
5. Gentleness
6. Goodness
7. Faith
8. Meekness
9. Temperance
All of these are more important than any tangible wealth you can find on this earth. There is no dollar amount, which can provide the wealth of these intangibles.
Don’t Re-Invent the Wheel
We were created with basic needs. If you are honest about your needs, you will discover money isn’t to high on the list of needs. I’m not saying we don’t need money, but it should take the place of the intangible wealth previously mentioned.
Why?
It’s the intangible wealth that builds families. The intangible wealth instructs and advises in proper moral and ethical discernment. This intangible wealth brings integrity in the midst of chaotic situations when it may be hard to do the right thing. Intangible wealth causes a person to be patient and peaceable when it is easier to be intolerant and hateful.
We live in a world where people are hurt and everyday people looking for a tangible wealth, when we should be demonstrating the importance of intangible wealth.
None of this is new. Since the creation of the world, there has been an unsettling search for tangible riches causing wars and fightings between family members, friends, and enemies of all kinds.
However, our Father in heaven places emphasis on us possessing the list of intangibles mentioned above. Now, do they look familiar to you?
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law…let us not be desirous of vain glory…” -Galatians 5:22-26
Watch Your Life Flourish
Intangible wealth creates an unimaginable satisfaction in every aspect of your life. Again, let me say there is nothing wrong with money. But it takes an intangible wealth to instruct us in how to utilize the tangible wealth we receive.
Just remember, our lives are much better when we possess intangible wealth.
Action: Focus on possessing intangible wealth instead of tangible wealth.
