Rise Above
Whether good or bad, there are many things fighting for our time these days. It’s not that things are worse or better these days compared to the past, it is just different times.
With that in mind, what are you doing to change with the times?
Each era has its own set of challenges, but the key is adjusting to the challenges of our time and rise above.
From personal experience, it is much easier to stay where you are versus rising above. Rising will cause you to step out your comfort zone. However, it is necessary for you to move to the next level in your life. Every challenge I have faced in my life has been a stepping-stone for greater levels of success.
If you are going to live a profitable and productive life, you will need to rise above the challenges in your life. Whatever you do, don’t settle for mediocre.
Here are four simple strategies that will help you rise above. These strategies will help in every aspect of your life, personally and professionally. Here are the strategies:
1. Know where you currently stand. Without knowing where you currently stand, you will never know where you are going.
2. Write specific goals. Where do you want to go? What would you like to receive out of life? You must ask yourself these questions, then you have write detailed goals and objectives to help you achieve the desires of your heart. Let’s take going back to school as an example of a goal. If this is a goal for you, you should make short and long term goals to measure your desired accomplishment. One short term goal (STG) may be researching the school. Another STG may include you enrolling into a few classes. One more STG could be for you to attend class daily and take notes. A good long term goal (LTG) may be for you to complete a semester or to make a certain grade. If you desire, you can be more detailed by making goals for your goals. However, I suggest you to keep it simple to avoid complicating your life and risking the chance of you quitting before you get started. To assure your success, make sure your STG and LTG are SMART.
S - Specific
M - Measureable
A - Attainable
R - Relevant
T - Time-bound
3. Reassess your goals. Don’t wait until the last minute when assessing your goals, be proactive about measuring your goals. If you are reassessing weekly or bi-weekly, you will notice if you are making strides in the right direction. I wouldn’t suggest you reassessing your goals daily, unless it has to do with a daily practice.
4. Surround yourself with people who will hold you accountable. I trust you are the most responsible person on Earth. Even if you are the most responsible person on Earth, it never hurts to have someone to hold you accountable for your goals. It may be a parent, sibling, spouse, team member, business partner, or a friend. Someone other than yourself needs to know about your goals, and it needs to be someone supportive of your goals and dreams.
If you try these four simple strategies, you will discover greater success with your daily, weekly, monthly, and annual practices.
Before I conclude, I would like to share just a little more valuable information.
One of the reasons many people and/or businesses are unable to rise is because people don’t take control. Success only comes to those who are able to be proactive about ridding their personal life or specific organization of those things limiting growth.
Most people and businesses know what they must do to make to make their lives and organizations successful, but are afraid to make a tough decision.
“Leaders are never afraid to make tough decisions.”
It may be a temporary pain initially, but it is worth going through the pain to set your life and organization in the right direction.
So again, what is it you want out of life? Where are you going? How will you get there?
“Don’t settle for anything less than your best.”
Rise above!
