Why You Should Patiently Work
We have always heard that we should patiently wait for the things we want in life. I don’t think there is anything wrong with patiently waiting, but I think a better phrase would be the following:
“Patiently work for the things you want in life.”
So, why should you patiently work for the things in life?
The word patiently is closely related to two words, calm and endurance. Think about the times you have been asked to be patient or when you have asked someone else to be patient. When we use the word patience, usually it’s because there is some sort of misfortune, delay, hardship, or pain.
Are you where you would like to be in life?
We all have expectations. Your aspirations may be spiritual, personal, or professional in nature. Regardless of the nature of your dreams or aspirations, it is in your best interest to patiently work.
Let’s discuss three reasons why we should patiently work.
1. To keep away idleness. You may not be where you want to be with your spiritual, personal, or professional life, but that doesn’t mean you should just give up and quit. That is the time when we should work even harder to keep away idleness. Idleness kills dreams, aspirations, goals, etc. When we are not working towards our goals, we actually make it harder for us to reach our goals. Don’t find yourself falling behind on your goals. Everyday you should be patient working and chipping away at making your dreams a reality.
2. To master discipline. Discipline is key to any success. I will never limit God, so some successes can happen overnight. However, in most cases success is journey of triumphing and failing. It is impossible to win them all. So during the times when we aren’t winning, we need to learn how to discipline our disappointment. Managing our expectations will get us to our next chapter of success, but it will require us to patiently work.
3. To build future success. I’ve never heard anyone say, “I’m too successful.” No matter how successful you are, you should want more success. Success can be defined many ways, but the true meaning of success is defined by our expectations. When you patiently work, you create your own success. Your work ethic, willingness to learn, and strength of mind will cause you to attract success far beyond what your goals may have been. All you have to do is patiently work and you find yourself consistently building a successful future.
