WHAT LEADERS DO IN PRIVATE MATTERS
/“No one man can, for any considerable time, wear one face to himself, and another to the multitude, without finally getting bewildered as to which is the true one.” - Nathaniel Hawthorne
Should there ever be a time when your colleagues are more highly respected than your family members at home? What do your children and spouse really think about you? Would your employees or employer be shocked to see how you manage your personal life. We all realize your personal life is your own private business. But if you answered yes to either of the following questions, it is time to reflect and adjust your disposition.
All leaders have the responsibility of being a role model to others. Many take this duty and charge with great concern. They live a life of honesty, loyalty, and integrity to mankind. They seek the good and find the most upright manner to handling situations. They are well mannered, and being polite is second nature. This approach is so effective and useful in all situations. Everyone can see the courteous lifestyle of this kind of leader. Most individuals seek to involve themselves with this kind of respectable person and wishes to be on their team.
This character can only be genuine, if you possess this same nature in private as well.
It may be your temperament after work that is consistently unconducive to building relationships. It takes a special effort to hand over a disappointing or hurtful day and to leave it at work. As you leave work; encourage yourself and know how much better the evening and time at home will be than those hours spent in disappointment. You can make it happen. You decide if it is advantageous to discuss your day upon arrival that evening; feel the climate of your home. Often, even the youngest member of the family may help with your plan of action for the next day. Listen to all advice given, because in your home environment, you have an unbiased opinion to help with your situation. You may decide it’s not a convenient time to share your burden with your family. Either way, let your spirit be warm and thankful that you have individuals who love and respect you for you being YOU!
Our true personality will always be revealed when we least expect it. We cannot put on a facade forever if we are living and leading separate lives. Life is less stressful when we are the same person regardless of our environment. It’s called being an integral leader. Live and conquer life with a sense of harmony and integrity so that you have a good work / home balance. This balance will build character contributing to your success in every other aspect of your life!
